Arsenal star demanding £300,000 a week despite poor season
Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil is holding out for a mega £300,000 a week deal, according to the Daily Mail.
Ozil has been in talks over a new contract with the Gunners in recent weeks. Talks are expected to be stepped up at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old will have just 12 months remaining on his current deal this summer. Arsenal may be forced into selling Ozil if they are unable to strike a new deal.
The Daily Mail state that Ozil wants to more than double his weekly pay packet. Ozil currently earns £140,000 per week. The report goes onto state that Arsenal are willing to offer Ozil £250,000 on a weekly basis.
Per the source, Ozil was the slowest player on the field on Sunday when the Gunners suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham.
The defeat has left Arsenal 6th in the Premier League with 60 points after 33 games. The Gunners take on Manchester United this weekend as they look to bounce back from the north London derby defeat.
