Arsenal star could be headed to Turkey as Super Lig minnows are prepared to match £9m asking price, West Ham also in race

Arsenal star Jack Wilshere is expected to leave North London this summer after spending his entire professional career contracted to the club.

Turkish minnows Antalyaspor have emerged as surprise candidates for the England international.

TuttoMercatoWeb claim that the Scorpions are prepared to match the Gunners £9 million [€10m] asking price.

Per the source, Sampdoria are also interested but are only prepared to offer £6.3 million [€7m].

Reports in England meanwhile claim Wilshere is open to joining London rivals West Ham.

The Daily Star report that Arsenal actually value Wilshere as being worth £20 million and want to include a buyback clause if they sell the 25-year-old.

The Gunners did loan Wilshere to Premier League outfit Bournemouth last season.

Former Arsenal star and current football pundit Paul Merson believes Merson will definitely leave.

Merson told talkSPORT: “It’s a definite that he [Wilshere] will leave.

“I don’t think he was in Wenger’s plans.

“If you send someone on loan, you send them on loan for three months.

“If he’d have gone to Bournemouth for three months and set it alight and scored eight goals in three months, then you could call him back.

“But as soon as he sent him there for a year, he was never playing for Arsenal again.

“He [Wenger] is saying he’s world class because he wants another £5m or so for him.”

Antalyaspor have established themselves as an ambitious Super Lig outfit.

The Scorpions have Samuel Eto’o and former Tottenham midfielder Sandro on their books.

The Mediterranean based outfit have wealthy backers who want to build upon their fifth placed finish and book a place in Europe next season.
