Mesut Özil has a staggering 16 assists in 19 appearances for Arsenal this season but if you thought that was impressive he still believes he can move up another few gears.
The World Cup winner revealed that while he has been impressed with his form this season he still has more to bring to the table.
Özil was regarded as one of the best players in the world during his stint at Real Madrid and he believes that he is almost at the same level again.
“I have performed well this season and am starting to reach the level I was at when playing for Real Madrid,” Özil told the Fanatik newspaper.
“In terms of my Arsenal career I am at my best but still have a lot more to offer and will work towards improving my game further.”
The 27-year-old provided 81 assists and scored 27 goals in 159 games for the Spanish giants winning the La Liga and Copa Del Rey.
The Arsenal star took a while to find his feet in England and was criticised at times over the past two-seasons for his languid style and appearing to not work hard enough.
Özil has provided the highest number of assists in the Premier League and the top five leagues in Europe including Germany, France, Italy, Spain and England.
The 27-year-old has also won the Arsenal player of the month award for October, November and most recently December.
