Manchester United are set to sign Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez after the Chile international completed his medical at Carrington.
The transfer of Sanchez could signal Mesut Ozil staying as the Gunners would be able to match his wage demands.
The playmaker of Turkish origin will be free to leave Arsenal at the end of the season unless a contract extension is signed.
Arsenal first-team coach Jens Lehmann revealed that Ozil is confused over his future.
“Arsenal is more German than ever,” Lehmann told Bild. “However, there is still a French influence through Arsène Wenger and some other Frenchmen working here.
“With players, it is often a coming and going.
“For example, Mesut Özil does not know whether he will stay.
“But Per Mertesacker will lead the junior academy from summer, which will be a big loss for the professional team, because as captain, his word has a lot of weight.
“In addition, with Sven Mislintat now comes the chief scout from Germany, and thus the German influence has in fact already grown.”
