Arsenal are facing major concerns regarding the fitness of their star playmaker Mesut Ozil ahead of the Carabao Cup final.

The Gunners take on Manchester City in the final on Sunday, the game will be played at Wembley while kick-off is scheduled for 16:00 (GMT).

Ozil missed first-team training on Monday and Tuesday due to an illness.

The Germany international has been ruled out of tomorrow evening’s encounter with Ostersunds and is in a race against time to fully recover for the Cup Final.

“Mesut was sick until today,” Wenger told reporters.

“It was his first training session today. He was in bed on Monday and Tuesday with sickness.

“I would certainly have played him but because he was sick he will have to work hard tomorrow and he will not be involved.”

Mesut Ozil recently penned a new three-year contract with Arsenal putting an end to months of speculation linking him with a Gunners exit.

The 29-year-old played a starring role during his sides 3-0 win over Ostersunds in Sweden a week ago.

Ozil was also spotted in Istanbul over the weekend alongside his girlfriend Amine Gulse.
