Mesut Özil has stated that he is happy playing in the number 10 role at Arsenal.
The 26-year-old has been moved into his favoured role by manager Arsene Wenger who has tipped Özil to have his best season yet.
“I am super happy with the No. 10 position, and will also confirm that trust,” Özil told SID.
Özil spent the majority of last season playing out on the left wing but it now seems Wenger will play the Germany international behind the striker.
The North London club secured the pre-season trophy following their 1-0 victory over the Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. Arsenal recorded a 6-0 win over Lyon on Saturday.
Özil scored and provided two assists during Arsenal’s emphatic victory over the French club.
The World Cup winner provided nine assists and five goals in 32 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions last season.
The North London based side take on their rivals Chelsea on August 2 in the Charity shield.
