Arsenal Star Makes Final Four Alongside Chelsea Loanee In UEFA Europa League Team Of The Week

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has made the shortlist for the UEFA Europa League team of the week.

The playmaker of Turkish origin has made the final four alongside Athletic Bilbao forward Aritz Aduriz, Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder Manuel Fernandes and Borussia Dortmund forward Michy Batshuayi.

Ozil starred in his first Europa League game in 3101 days against Swedish minnows Ostersund in the Round of 32 first-leg tie.

The 29-year-old kept his impressive Europa League record alive as he netted his sides third and final goal.

Ozil has two goals and 11 assists in 11 Europa League games – including the qualification round.

Former Besiktas star Fernandes meanwhile, put on a stellar display, scoring a hat-trick in the Russian giants away win over Nice.

Chelsea loanee Batshuayi continued his fine form, this time scoring a brace in Dortmund’s 3-2 win over Atalanta.

Aduriz meanwhile also scored a brace in Bilbao’s 3-1 win over Spartak Moscow.

Fans will be able to vote for their player of the week. The winner will be announced on the official UEFA website today.

Interestingly enough, despite making the player of the week nominations, Ozil did not make the cut for the Team of the Week, neither did Aduriz. However, both Batshuayi and Fernandes did make the side.
