Arsenal star Mesut Ozil sparked speculation that he could be on his way to Real Madrid when he recently praised Zinadine Zidane.
Gunners fans did however, breath a sigh of relief when Ozil revealed he wants to stay in London.
Ozil responded to rumors linking him with a move to Real and pledged his future to the north London based outfit.
The Arsenal play-maker told French magazine Surface: “I am under contract with Arsenal and I am very happy to be here now.”
The World Cup winner did of course play for Real before making his move to London but never played alongside Zidane.
Ozil did also state that he will be keeping his options open but that he is currently fully focused on achieving his goals at Arsenal.
“I do not think about the future, I just think my current situation. I have goals for Arsenal. In the future you can never know in football,” he added.
Ozil has won two FA Cup trophies at Arsenal but has yet to win the Premier League. The Germany international of Turkish origin will not be able to add to his silverware collection this season.
