Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has spoken about missing out on breaking Thierry Henry’s assist record.
The 27-year-old stated that he is more interest in being part of a successful team rather then earning personal accolades.
“I don’t play football for personal records. I just want to be successful with my team-mates,” Ozil told the German FA‘s website.
“If I do that and break records in the process, then obviously it’s great, however, that’s not my main goal.”
Ozil has had a terrific season at Arsenal providing the highest number of assists in the Premier League (19).
The Germany international narrowly missed out on breaking the all time record for setting up the most goals in a single Premier League season currently held by Thierry Henry (20).
Ozil was also voted Player of the Season for his efforts but his club were unable to lift a trophy. The European Championships remain the only trophy Ozil will be able to lift this season.
