“I think the club know they need to strengthen,” Ozil told the Daily Star.

“But what’s most important is the manager’s opinion. He and the club will make the decision.

“When you look at our squad, it’s not as broad as Bayern’s or Real Madrid’s. In the Champions League, that’s not enough, especially against big teams, because they have more breadth in their squad.”

Ozil’s contract with Arsenal expires in a little over 12 months. Talks over a new contract have stalled due to the Germany international’s contract demands (The Sun).

Arsenal take on London rivals Crystal Palace on Monday as they continue their pursuit of a top-four finish.

The Gunners have lost their last three games away from home. Crystal Palace meanwhile have won four of their last five games and have won back-to-back games at Selhurst Park.

Sam Allardyce’s side are just three points ahead of the relegation zone.
