Arsenal Step Up Efforts To Sign £17.5m Attacking Midfielder, Scouts Sent To Last International Game

Trabzonspor attacking midfielder Yusuf Yazici was closely linked with a move to Arsenal during the Arsene Wenger era.

The Black Sea Storm confirmed to Turkish-Football they received interest from Arsenal while Wenger was in charge.

Additionally Ahmet Cebeci – one of Yazici’s representatives – said: “Yusuf wants a move to Europe, Erkut Sogut has been in talks with clubs and there is interest from the Premier League, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger watched Yusuf in person.”

The Fanatik newspaper report that the Gunners remain interested in Yazici following the appointment of Unai Emery.

Per the source, Yazici was among the players scouted by Arsenal at the last two Turkey national team games against Iran and Tunisia.

The report claims that Trabzonspor want £17.5 million for Yazici but that recently elected club president Ahmet Agaoglu would prefer to keep him on for at least another season.

Yazici’s agent Erkut Sogut has also confirmed interest from the Premier League.

“He was born in born in 1997, he was selected among UEFA’s 50 most promising players. He is ahead of Cengiz Under, half of Europe is interested in Yusuf,” Sogut said.

“He is the most promising youngster in Turkey, he scored 10 goals in the league this season. His technique is brilliant, we have offers from Italy, from the Premier League, from Germany and Spain.”

 

Sogut, is also the agent of Mesut Ozil and has been using his ties to Arsenal to bring his client to the attention of the North London based outfit.

 

 

Yazici provided an assist in the 2-1 victory over Iran last Monday and started in the 2-2 draw against Tunisia.
