Arsenal have struck a deal with Besiktas over the transfer of David Ospina according to the Takvim newspaper.

Per the source, Ospina, who has already reached a deal in principle could complete his move this week.

The report claims the Gunners have agreed to a £1.2m offer for the Colombian international.

The figure is lower than the fee Turkish-Football reported yesterday which was in the region of £2m for Ospina.

Besiktas are also in talks with Bursaspor keeper Harun Tekin but the Super Lig side are demanding £2.7m [€3m] for the Turkey international.

The Super Lig side have made signing a new keeper a priority after recently selling Fabri to Fulham on a £5.3m move.

Ospina is expected to leave Arsenal after falling further down the pecking order following the transfer of Bernd Leno.

Despite being first-choice international keeper for Colombia, Ospina has dropped down into third-choice stopper for Arsenal.

Arsenal legend Robert Pires has advised the 29-year-old to consider leaving this summer.

Pires told bwin: “Arsenal has spent a lot of money recruiting Leno. It would not be reasonable to put Leno on the bench of substitutes.

“This is the new number one in Arsenal’s goal, in my opinion.

“I do not know the future reserved for Ospina and Cech, but they must surely think of a transfer away.”

Besiktas would be able to make Ospina first-choice keeper and offer a long-term deal on an improved wage packet.

The Black Eagles want to sign their replacement for Fabri by the end of this week in preparation for the 2018-19 Super Lig and Europa League season.
