Arsenal Suffer Blow In Pursuit Of ‘New Mo Salah’ After Club Chief Rules Out Summer Transfer

Roma starlet Cengiz Under has been closely linked with several European clubs over the past week.

It all started when the Mirror reported that Arsenal and Manchester City have been keeping tabs on the rising star.

This was followed by Roma sporting director Monchi bizarrely admitting that several clubs including Barcelona want Under.

It was surprising to hear a sporting director talk so frankly about a player on the books but perhaps the wizard had his reasons.

Anyway, Roma president James Pallotta did, however, rule out Under leaving this summer.

The Gunners, Barcelona, City and any other interested parties are going to have to wait at least another season.

“There’s a frustration on my part that people go ‘Oh, Roma’s a supermarket,'” Pallotta told Sirius XM radio. “We’re not trying to just sell players. We’ve tied Under down on a five-year contract, and the situation’s similar with Alisson.

“I was a fan of his right from day one and I’m glad he’s finally showing how good he is, because he’s been incredible. I think players like [Patrik] Shick are also going to be very useful in the future.

“Monchi has had to face many problems due to financial fair play and there’s still a bit of work to do, but we’ve identified many ways in which we can improve the team in the coming five years.”

Roma snapped up Under on a £12 million move from Basaksehir over the summer.

Under became the most expensive Turkey international to leave the Super Lig as a result.

The 20-year-old was brought in as a replacement for Mohamed Salah who joined Liverpool.

Under has already been nicknamed the ‘New Mo Salah’ and has six goals as well as one assist since February for Roma.

The wonder kid also has an impressive international record, scoring his fourth goal in eight caps for Turkey in the 2-2 draw against Montenegro on Tuesday.
