Wonder Kid Scouted By Arsenal For Two Years Makes CIES 50 ‘Most Promising Prospects’ List

Stuggart rising star Berkay Ozcan has made the CIES Football Observatory 50 ‘Most Promising Prospects’ list.

The report picked 50 players with the highest scores from an algorithm analyzing domestic league experience cumulated over the last two years by U20 players from 22 European competitions.

The report states: “Minutes played by each footballer were weighted according to the sporting level of leagues and the results achieved by employer clubs. Weekly Post number 215 presents the 50 players with the highest experience capital scores.”

CIES used a five-star scoring system. Ozcan received three-stars which the organization describes as being for players in a ‘favorable position to stay or reach the highest levels of the football pyramid’.

Ozcan recently revealed that the Gunners have been scouting him for two-years and that they have been in talks with his agent.

“My agent and I are in talks with Arsenal,” Ozcan was quoted as saying by Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik.

“Arsenal have been scouting me for the past two years and send representatives to watch my games.

“My agent is in direct talks for them.

“I am not sure if now is the right time to join Arsenal, it may be a bit early for me.

“I want to prove myself here and keep developing first.

“Ultimately, Arsenal is the club I want to join in the future, god willing I will achieve my goal.”

The 20-year-old has three assists in 17 Bundesliga appearances for Stuttgart in all competitions this season.

Ozcan does however, have another four-years remaining on his contract after striking a new deal this summer.

The midfielder of Turkish origin would become the second ethnic Turk born in Germany to play for Arsenal if he ends up making the move.
