Beşiktaş beat Çaykur Rizespor 1-0 at the Fatih Terim stadium to move back into first place int he Turkish Super League.
Ricardo Quaresma scored the only goal of the game but it was Oğuzhan Özyakup who took most of the praise following a brilliant midfield performance.
The Turkish intentional midfielder completed an impressive 101 passes at a 91 percent accuracy. Özyakup who had been criticised for his defensive work last season was as assiduous as usual and actually made the joint highest number of tackles for the Beşiktaş team.
On the offensive end the 23-year-old midfielder made the highest number of key passes (4) and was involved in the build up ahead for the winning goal.
Özyakup has a total of two goals and four assists in all competitions for the Istanbul giants this season.
The impressive performances of the Beşiktaş midfielder have not gone unnoticed.
Arsenal have shown an interest in their former youth academy player according to Talksport and Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik report that the Gunners have been keeping close tabs on the 22-year-old.
West Ham and fellow Premier League side Sunderland have also been closely linked with the central midfielder.
The Istanbul giants moved two points clear of Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe following the victory and take on Antalyaspor next week.
