Arsenal team news: Star player Mesut Ozil ruled out Bayern Munich clash despite turning up to team training

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has been ruled out of the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich by head coach Arsene Wenger despite turning up for team training on Monday 6 March.

Ozil missed the Liverpool game on the weekend which Arenal lost 3-1 at Anfield.

The Germany international of Turkish origin was ruled out due to illness and it appears he will also miss the Bayern game after Wenger declared that he does not think Ozil is physically ready.

Wenger was quoted by the Express as saying: “I don’t think Mesut Ozil is ready physically to be in the squad [tomorrow].

“He should be OK for the weekend.”

Arsenal lost the first-leg of their Last 16 clash against Bayern Munich 5-1 in Germany and face a near impossible task in turning the scores around in the second-leg if they are to progress to the next stage.

The absence of Ozil will weaken an out-of-form Arsenal side even further.

The Gunners dropped out of the top-four in the Premier League after Liverpool beat them over the weekend.

Arsenal face Bayern on Tuesday 7 March 2017 at the Emirates followed by an FA Cup clash against Lincoln on Saturday 11 March.
