Arsenal team news: Wenger suffers major injury blow, while January star signing set for return

Arsenal fans will be fearing the worst when they take on Manchester City for the second time in the space of a week.

The Gunners host City at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday evening, kick-off is scheduled for 19:45 (GMT).

Arsene Wenger’s side suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Man City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday. The north London based club currently sit in sixth spot with 45 points after 27 games. Arsenal are currently ten points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.

Arsenal team news:  

Wenger will be able to call upon January signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the mid-week clash. The Armenia international was unavailable for selection in the cup final after playing for Manchester United in earlier rounds.

Monreal is a major doubt for Thursday night’s clash after suffering a back injury over the weekend. Meanwhile, Alexandre Lacazette is ruled out as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.

Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil is once again available for selection.
