Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil’s bumper new contract is continuing to cause issues at the north London based club.
The 29-year-old recently put pen to paper on a £350,000 per week deal with the Gunners.
Ozil had been linked with a move away from the club and signed deal back in January.
According to the Evening Standard, Aaron Ramsey is also looking for a major pay increase. Per the source, while Ramsey’s team does not want parity with Ozil, they seeking to at least double the Wales international’s current deal.
However, Arsenal has told Ramsey’s representatives that Ozil’s deal “should not be considered a benchmark” to aim at.
Per the source, Arsenal’s reasoning behind Ozil’s mega-money deal is down to the German’s worldwide commercial value.
The Standard goes onto states that newly appointed manager Unai Emery is under pressure to reduce the clubs inflated wage bill.
Ozil was substituted off mid-way through the second half during Arsenal’s defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.
