Fenerbahce have suffered a blow in their efforts to sign Barcelona star midfielder Andre Gomes this summer.

According to the Turkish outlet Futbol Arena, the Yellow Canaries are interested in signing the Portugal international on a season-long loan.

However, a report from the Independent this week has linked Arsenal with a move for the 24-year-old.

Per the source, newly appointed Arsenal boss Unai Emery has set his sights on Gomes despite a disappointing spell at the Camp Nou. Per the source, the Gunners want to sign Gomes on a permanent deal.

Barcelona have set a £30 million price tag on the Portugal international.

Meanwhile, Turkish outlet Fanatik state that Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli has been in negotiations with Barcelona officials. The Yellow Canaries will, however, struggle to compete with Arsenal in the transfer market this summer as they are being monitored by UEFA for financial fair play.

Gomes made just 16 La Liga appearances for Barcelona during the 2017/18 season.
