Arsenal transfer news: £42m Mesut Ozil urges agent to seal move to Barcelona

Germany international Mesut Ozil could be in his way out of the Emirates this summer.

The Arsenal playmaker is yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal with the north London-based club. Ozil has under 12 months remaining on his current deal with the Gunners.

According to the Spanish outlet Don Balon, Ozil has instructed his representatives to seal a move to Barcelona. Per the source, the Catalan giant are ready to switch their attention towards Ozil after failing to land Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.

Ozil made the move to Arsenal from Real Madrid for £42 million (BBC) back in 2013. Barcelona have previously signed Alex Song, Cesc Fabregas and Thierry Henry from Arsenal.

However, according to the Sun, Arsenal are close to striking a deal with Ozil. The Daily tabloid states that Ozil is prepared to accept a £225,000 per-week offer.

Ozil played the full 90 minutes during Arsenal’s 4-3 victory over Leicester City on Friday night. The Gunners take on Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium this weekend.
