Arsenal transfer news: Gunners face competition from Champions league giants for £24m Barcelona star
Arsenal has been joined by Turkish Super Lig champions Besiktas in the race to sign Arda Turan.
The Gunners have been linked with a January move for the Turkey international. Turan is expected to leave Barcelona after falling out of favour with Barca boss Ernesto Valverde.
The 30-year-old hasn’t played a single minute of La Liga football for Barcelona this season.
According to former Besiktas chief Sinan Engin (via Beyaz TV), Turan’s representatives have held talks with the Black Eagles in Istanbul. However, Turan is understood to be keen on a move to the Premier League.
The Turkey international made the move to Barcelona from Atletico Madrid for £24 million back in 2015. Turan still has over two years remaining on a lucrative contract with the La Liga giants.
Arda Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut recently confirmed that he is in talks with a Premier League club over a January transfer.
“I have been in talks with four clubs, everything will be sorted in 15 days,” Bulut was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.
“Turan will either be loaned out or sold, there are offers from the Premier League, Spain and Italy.”
Arsenal will take on Liverpool on Friday as they look to record back-to-back victories at the Emirates stadium.
