Arsenal transfer news: Gunners give up on Mesut Ozil contract talks amid Man United links
Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil is nearing a move away from the north London-based club.
The 28-year-old has under ten months remaining on this contract with the Gunners. Ozil is yet to strike a new deal with Arsenal while manager Arsene Wenger recently admitted that talks had ‘slowed down’.
According the Transfermarketweb, Arsenal have now given up hope of extending Ozil’s contract. The Germany international could end up leaving the club for free next summer.
The report comes shortly after a SportBild report which claims Ozil wants a reunion with Man United boss Jose Mourinho.
Ozil is of course no stranger to working with the Portuguese tactician. The Germany international played under Mourinho at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
Mourinho has frequently admitted that he is a long-term admirer of the former Werder Bremen star.
