Arsenal v Leicester City: probable lineups – Gunners could be without star duo

Arsenal host Leicester City at the Emirates stadium on Friday night for the first game of the 2017-18 Premier League season.

The Gunners come into this week’s clash beaming with confidence following a victory over their rivals Chelsea for the Community Shield. Arsenal also defeated Chelsea at Wembley for the FA Cup three months ago.

However, Arsene Wenger’s side ended up finishing fifth in the Premier League and will miss out on UEFA Champions League football this season.

Germany international Mesut Ozil missed last weekend’s win over Chelsea due to an ankle injury he picked up in training. The star playmaker is once again an injury doubt ahead of Friday night’s game.

Alexis Sanchez meanwhile has been ruled out with an abdominal strain. Both Ozil and Sanchez have under a year remaining on their contract’s with Arsenal.

Wenger is expected to stick with the 3-5-2 formation which has served his side well in recent fixtures.
