Arsenal will drop points against West Brom, says Paul Merson

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has stated that the Gunners will be in for a tough game this weekend.

Arsene Wenger’s side take on West Brom at The Hawthorns tomorrow, kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 (GMT).

Merson believes West Brom will pose a significant threat from set-peices. The former Arsenal star has predicted Tony Pulis’s side to come away with a point.

West Brom come into this weekend’s clash following back-to-back defeats in the league. Arsenal meanwhile have recorded one win in their last four games.

West Brom are always difficult to beat at home. I know Palace beat them the other week at home and they have had a couple of bad results, but it will be a hard game for Arsenal,” Merson told SkySports.

Arsenal will have to defend very well at set plays and I think this could be a bit of a banana skin for Arsenal and I am going to go 2-2, which will be a nightmare result for their top-four hopes.

You always think Arsenal are going to be vulnerable from set plays, they are not the biggest team in the world, so Arsene Wenger will probably have to play Olivier Giroud in this game, even if he does not want to.

So you are sort of changing your team for the other team and I would be surprised if Giroud does not play in this game, in fact I would be shocked if I am being honest.

Mesut Ozil has fully recovered from his illness and is expected to be included in Wenger’s starting line-up.

The 28-year-old appears to be in high spirits and was pictured alongside his dog Balboa earlier this week.
