Özil played his first game against stoke two weeks ago since damaging his knee ligaments during a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in October.

The 26-year-old played 17 minutes in the Gunners 3-0 win over Stoke City but was left on the bench in the 2-0 win over Manchester City due to lacking match fitness.

“I am happy, that I could play a couple of minutes. Of course I am not at 100 percent, I only trained with the team once on Saturday, but I hope that I will be back at 100 percent end of January,” Özil was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

“I am just satisfied to be back on the pitch again and that I can kick the ball with my team-mates. I missed that so much.

“The match against Stoke was perfect. We dominated and we got the three points so that makes me even happier.”

The record £42.5 million Arsenal signing has made two assists and scored one goal in ten appearances for the North-London based club this season.
