Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Mesut Ozil must return to the Germany national team if he wants to avoid losing his motivation.
Wenger was responsible for signing the playmaker of Turkish origin during his time in charge of the Gunners back in 2013 for a then record transfer fee from Real Madrid.
Ozil went onto win three FA Cup trophies and lifted the 2014 World Cup while he was contracted to the club.
The 30-year-old did however, quit the national side citing racism and disrespect against him as major factors behind his decision.
Wenger believes that Ozil needs to return to the national team and that Germany really need him back.

“I think Germany needs Ozil and I hope Low can convince him to come back,” Wenger told Sport Bild.
“Ozil is a super football player and was not the worst at the World Cup.
“I did not love it that he withdrew from the Germany team [because] the Germans respect what he achieved.
“A small bit of motivation disappears when you know that you don’t have to be ready for a World Cup, a European Championship.
“I love it when the players are as good as possible. He loses a bit if he does not play at an international level.”
Germany were unable to qualify from their World Cup group, and suffered humiliating defeats to Mexico and South Korea in Russia.
Ozil feels he was used as a scapegoat and posted a lengthy statement regarding his decision to quit international football on social media.

Germany have not fared much better without Ozil, in fact they have yet to win a single UEFA Nations League game since he retired.
