Arsene Wenger reveals whether Mesut Ozil will play in Arsenal v Ostersunds FK Europa League clash

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed whether Mesut Ozil will okay against Ostersunds FK in the Europa League.

The 29-year-old has not featured in the competition at all this season, however, is expected to make his Europa League debut tonight.

Wenger has confirmed that Ozil is available for selection and is likely to feature heavily against the Swedish side.

The French tactician went onto state that Ozil is eager to play in the cup competition.

“Yes. At some stage it has to be his [Ozil”s] first game in this competition. He wants to do well in this competition,” Wenger stated at the pre-game press conference.

“When you go into a competition it is to try to win it, no matter where we are in the league. The pressure might be higher maybe but we try to go as far as we can.”

The Europa League appears to be Arsenal’s best route to play UEFA Champions League football next season. Defeat to rivals Tottenham last weekend has left the Gunners eight points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Ozil made it all the way to the final of the Europa League (Under its former name UEFA Cup) with Werder Bremen back in 2009 however, were defeated by Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Germany international recently put pen-to-paper on a new three year deal with the north London based club.
