AS Monaco has announced that left-back Ismail Jakobs is joining Galatasaray on a one-year loan with an option to buy.

The 24-year-old German-born defender joined Monaco in 2021 from FC Köln. He has been a regular starter for the French club, making 105 appearances in all competitions.

Jakobs has also represented Senegal at the international level, participating in the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

His move to Galatasaray will provide him with an opportunity to experience a new league and challenge himself in a competitive environment. The Turkish club is the reigning champion of the Süper Lig and will be aiming for another successful season.

Jakobs’ loan to Galatasaray could become a permanent transfer if the Turkish club exercises the option to buy him at the end of the season.

The Lions have seen a flurry of transfer activity over the last 24 hours with Victor Osimhen joining on loan from Napoli last night and star winger Kerem Akturkoglu completing a €12m permanent transfer to Benfica.

The Red Yellows are competing in the Europa League this season and have won their first three games of the Super Lig campaign this term.
