Aston Villa and West Brom have joined the race for Mainz 05 wonderkid Erkan Eyibil a source close to the player revealed to Turkish-Football.
The Birmingham based clubs have been keeping tabs on the 17-year-old who has been in impressive form scoring five goals in his last two games.
Eyibil has one year remaining on his contract but has yet to agree to a new deal with Mainz and is currently considering his options.
The youngster is keen on playing in the Premier League so promotion to the top-tier could be decisive in securing a move.
Villa take on rivals West Brom in the Championship play-off semi-final.
Both teams face competition from West Ham and Newcastle United who have also been scouting Eyibil.
Super Lig giants Besiktas and Fenerbahce have also lodged an interest in the rising star.
Besiktas have a policy of targeting promising players of Turkish origin from Western Europe such as Oguzhan Ozyakup, Yalcin Guven and Kerim Frei.
Fenerbahce meanwhile, underwent a radical shift in transfer policy following Ali Koc taking over as club president last summer placing emphasis on signing young talents.
The Yellow Canaries have made recruiting youth a priority and are prepared to give first-team opportunities.
The attacking midfielder has been nicknamed the ‘New Mesut Ozil’ in the Turkish media due to his playing style, position and both players being ethnic Turks born in Germany.
The left-footed attacking midfielder has attracted growing interest from scouts across Europe after an impressive campaign.
