La Liga chamions Atletico Madrid are planning to establish a football academy in Turkey according to Eurosport TR.

Atleti CEO Enrique Cerezo is reported as saying, “We will open academies in four countries and train around 5,000 kids. These will become as popular as our academies in Spain and Mexico.”

The four countries included in the plan are Turkey, the US, China and India.

Atleti have played in 10 finals over the past decade, won seven trophies and seen revenues as well as club membership rise significantly.

The Rojiblancos have also attracted interest from Chinese investors recently.

Chinese billionaire Wang Jianlin is poised to buy a 20 percent stake in the club worth an estimated €40 million according to AS.

Atleti increased their Turkish fanbase following the transfer and success of Arda Turan.

Turan became the first Turkish born player to win the La Liga as Atleti won their first league title since 1996 last season.

 The Turkish international has lifted the La Liga, Copa Del Rey, Europa League, European Super Cup and reached the Champions League at Atleti.
