Avcı hoping to spring surprise on Fenerbahçe [divider]
Başakşehir manager Abdullah Avcı underlined that his side will show Fenerbahçe respect but that they could spring a surprise.
“Fenerbahçe is a team that has players with special personal facets, incredibly wide attacking options and can create lots of pressure,” Avcı said.
“At Fenerbahçe’s stadium, we are going to try to break that pressure as a club and as a playing philosophy with the position we have gained. We are going with the hope of winning.
“Even when they play poorly, they can turn a match around. We have been working on coping with this both practically and theoretically since the beginning of the week. I hope we see the result of that.”
Avci also revealed that Başakşehir have no long term goals this season and that they would take each match as it comes.
“We do not have a goal for the whole season. We are going from part to whole, making goals for each week. When the second half of the season starts, it will be clear what kind of roadmap we will make,” Avcı said.
Fenerbahçe have the best home record in the Süper Lig, the Yellow Canaries have won seven and drawn one of their eight games at the Şükrü Saracoğlu this season.
