Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has launched a verbal attack on Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil.
Ozil has endured a turbulent summer after posing for a photo with Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Things took a turn for the worse after Germany crashed out of the 2018 World Cup.
The 29-year-old retired from the Germany national team citing discrimination and racism.
Ozil’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut also released a statement regarding the treatment his client has received in Germany.
Bayern CEO Rummenigge has now added fuel to the fire by claiming that the agent’s comments are akin to a ‘fairytale audition’.
“He was not criticised because he has Turkish heritage,” Rummenigge told Sport Bild.
“That is a tale that his agents tell us.
“And that is something that annoys me more and more recently. Nowadays agents do many interviews and statements. Sometimes it is like a fairy tale audition.”
Bizzarly, Rummenigge also decided to slam Ozil’s playing ability.

“Mesut Ozil was never a player that we dealt with [as a potential signing] at one percent. Never,” Rummenigge went onto say,
“When we played in London, Uli always said: ‘I hope he plays tonight.'”
Ozil has returned to pre-season training with Arsenal and scored during their 5-1 win over PSG last week.
The London based clubs opening game of the season is against the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City next week.
