Benitez Urges Newcastle To Activate €10m Clause To Complete Transfer For Midfield Target, Everton Could Rival Move

Rafa Benitez has urged Newcastle United to activate Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup’s €10m release clause according to reports in Turkey.

The Aksam newspaper claim that the Newcastle boss has made Ozyakup a transfer priority.

Per the source, the Magpies are set to complete the transfer.

Benitez wants the deal completed before the Premier League outfit are faced with competition for the 25-year-old.

Turkish-Football understands that Everton also have an interest in Ozyakup.

The former teammate of Cenk Tosun has been scouted by the Toffees.

The Merseyside based outfit are looking to make changes over the summer.

Ozyakup and Tosun won back to back league titles at Besiktas together.

The Turkish international signed a four-year deal with Besiktas last week but the club are still willing to sell the midfielder.

The Super Lig outfit secured a new contract agreement was to escape the 30 percent future sale clause Arsenal had.

The North London based outfit included the clause when they sold the Turkey international to Besiktas five-years ago.

Ozyakup won the 2009 Youth FA Cup final with Arsenal, in the same side as Jack Wilshere, before moving to Besiktas for first-team football.

After winning two league titles the Netherlands born midfielder feels he is ready to return to the Premier League.

The central midfielder has scored 27 goals and provided 50 assists in 219 appearances for Besiktas since joining the club.
