Besiktas beat Galatasaray 1-0 in the Istanbul derby at the Vodafone Park Stadium on Sunday to record a much-needed victory.
The Black Eagles headed into the clash in 14th place in desperate need of points after a rocky start to the season.
Besiktas boss Abdullah Avci made several changes to the side which lost 2-1 to Braga mid-week in the Europa League.
Necip Uysal, Oğuzhan Özyakup Adem Ljajic, Tyler Boyd and Güven Yalçın were all benched.
Umut Nayir ended up being the star of the show scoring the winning goal with a stunning flying header on 69 minutes.

The 1.91m tall powerful striker now has two goals in six appearances in all competitions for Besiktas.
“It was a special game for me, I scored my first goal at the Vodafone Park mid-week and found the back of the net again in the Super Lig today,” Nayir said following the game.
“But to be honest I am more happy with the fact we won the derby, there is nothing like scoring the winning goal in the derby.”
The victory moved Besiktas just a single point behind Galatasaray who remain on 13 points.
