Besiktas Ace Domagoj Vida Set To Become The First Super Lig Player To Star In A World Cup Final When Croatia Take On France

Domagoj Vida will become the first Super Lig player to star in a World Cup final if he features for Croatia against France on Sunday at the Luzhniki Stadium in Russia.

Vida has started every game for Croatia at the tournament as Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren’s centre-back partner.

The 29-year-old scored in extra-time against Russia before netting during the penalty shootout to help his side book a place in the semi-final.

The defender also put on an impressive display against England in the semi-final.

The Besiktas ace made the highest number of successful interceptions (4) and the most clearances (8) for Croatia against England.

Club president Fikret Orman revealed that he will attend the final in support of Vida.

Vida has seen his value skyrocket over the course of the tournament and has received several offers from across Europe.

The last player to feature in a major international tournament from the Super Lig was Besiktas winger Ricardo Quaresma who ended up winning Euro 2016 with Portugal.
