Beşiktaş vice-president Ahmet Nur Çebi revealed that talks with Tottenham over Younes Kaboul have stalled.

“Younes Kaboul was on our shortlist but unfortunately we have not been able to agree on price,” Çebi said in a press conference regarding the inauguration of the Vodafone Arena.

“I do not see this transfer as being financially viable, we cannot meet the price Tottenham want for him, the only way this deal can go ahead is if we agree on price.”

Kaboul has fallen out of favour with head coach Mauricio Pochettino in recent weeks and has struggled for playing time.

The experienced defender last started for Spurs against Beşiktaş in the Europa League group stages.

The 29-year-old defender’s contract runs out in 2016.

Beşiktaş boss Slaven Bilic recently revealed that he wants Kaboul.

“We need a right-back but I would like to see Younes Kaboul join as well,” Bilic is quoted as saying by Akşam.
