Beşiktaş have the self-belief to take on Liverpool in the Europa League Round of 32 but will be aware of the Reds improved form according to the Black Eagles club director of football Semih Usta

“We all have belief,” Usta told the official Liverpool website.

“But we are aware of Liverpool’s improved form, specifically since the second half of the season. It will be more difficult to face them now.”

Usta also underlined that Beşiktaş will be familiar with Liverpool and the Premier League style of play as they have faced English opposition twice in European competition already this season.

The Black Eagles drew 0-0 against Arsenal in Istanbul and lost 1-0 against the Gunners at the Emirates in the Champions League play-offs.

Beşiktaş then took on Tottenham in the Europa League Group C, drawing at White Hart Lane and beating Spurs 1-0 in Istanbul.

“As I said, we’ve played two Premier League teams this season. We played four matches and they were all good performances from our side. We won one, lost one and drew two of them,” Usta added.

Beşiktaş were hammered 8-0 the last time they played Liverpool at Anfield but beat the Reds 2-1 in Istanbul.

Liverpool fans will be familiar with the stadium they will face Beşiktaş in for the return-leg. The Atatürk Olympic stadium is where the Reds won the 2004-05 Champions League.
