Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall finds himself at the center of a defensive tug-of-war, with Turkish giants Besiktas joining Sheffield United in the hunt for his signature before Thursday’s transfer deadline, TEAMtalk reveals.

Besiktas, scouring the Premier League for reinforcements, have enquired about the 27-year-old center-back after expressing interest in Newcastle’s Jamaal Lascelles. Worrall, Forest’s club captain, could be the missing piece in their defensive puzzle.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United remain undeterred after their initial loan offer was rejected. Blades boss Chris Wilder desperately seeks defensive stability, with his team boasting the leakiest backline in the Premier League.

For Forest, Worrall’s departure represents potential profit due to his homegrown status, boosting their Profit and Sustainability figures.

With his playing time limited this season, a move for regular first-team football could entice Worrall, who has amassed 226 appearances for the club.

Besiktas are out of the title race after a disappointing season full of turmoil which has seen them change manager three times already.

However, after a change in the board and club presidency things have stabilised the Black Eagles are now focused on rebuilding for the next season.

The Black-Whites see strengthening the defensive line as a priority for next season.

Worrall has make nine appearances in all competitions this season having played just 545 minutes of first team football.
