The 25-year-old received a three years and nine months prison sentence for his role in a string of robberies in December 2011.
Koç has Babelsberg president Thomas Bastian to thank for giving him another chance at playing professional football.
“If he regrets what he’s done, he deserves another shot, that’s what we’re about” Bastian was quoted as saying on the official Bundesliga website.
Koç has two goals and three assists in 14 appearances for Paddeborn this season.
The Black Eagles have a policy of signing players of Turkish origin raised in Western Europe and have had success with the likes of Oğuzhan Özyakup, Gökhan Töre, Kerim Frei, Veli Kavlak and Olcay Şahan.
Koç still has just over a year left on his contract at the Bundesliga outfit.
