Besiktas linked with ex Bayer Leverkusen defender Spahic

Beşiktaş have been linked with former Bayer Leverkusen defender Emir Spahic according to Eurosport TR.

The Black Eagles are interested in signing Spahic on a free transfer following his contract at Bayer Leverkusen being terminated.

Beşiktaş manager Slaven Bilic recently revealed that he would love to sign Spahic.

“Of course I would love Modric, Mandzukic, Rakitic from Croatia and Dzeko, Pjanic and Spahic from Bosnia but we have to be realistic,” Bilic told Bosnian channel BHT.

The Bundesliga outfit released Spahic following his fight with security personnel after the German Cup defeat against Bayern Munich.

Spahic was filmed fighting with security guards after they reportedly refused to give his friends access to the changing room area.

Bayer managing director, Michael Schade was quoted on the Guardian as saying: “The latest revelations from the case last Wednesday leave us no other choice. After video evidence emerged that shocked and upset all of us, we could not wait for the outcome of the legal investigation or a possible criminal case, but had to think about the club’s immediate response.

“We sat down with Emir and found an amicable solution. Emir regrets his actions and is very sorry. We wish him all the best for his future path.”

Beşiktaş are currently third in the Süper Lig, three points behind league leaders Galatasaray.
