Besiktas make offer for Liverpool defender

Besiktas have made an offer for Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel according to football agent Mithat Halis.

“Besiktas want Skrtel and make no secret of this, Turkish sides have been trying to sign him for five seasons but this summer he could make the move,” Halis said.

The Black Eagles have made strengthening their defence a priority over the summer. The Turkish champions had the best offensive record in the league last season scoring 75 times but had the worst defensive record in the top three.

Besiktas struggled defensively last season and one of their key defenders over the second half of the season Marcelo will return to Germany after his loan deal expires.

Liverpool signed Skrtel from Zenit St. Petersburg back in 2008 and the experienced defender has now made 320 appearances for the Premier League giants.

The Slovakian international made 28 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season and still has a two-years left on his contract.

Besiktas finished the season as champions and will play Champions League football next season.
