Besiktas have suffered an injury blow to star striker Burak Yilmaz the club revealed today.
Yilmaz underwent an operation at the Acibadem Fulya Hospital for a foot injury.
The experienced striker is expected to return to training in approximately three-weeks time.
Yilmaz has one-year remaining on his contract but Besiktas do have the option to extend his deal by an additional season beyond summer 2020.
The Turkey international star scored 16 goals and provided one assist in 22 appearances in all competitions last term.
The 33-year-old was in impressive form for Besiktas after joining from Trabzonspor in January netting 11 times in 15 games.
With Yilmaz injured and Cyle Larin out on loan at Zulte Waregem the Black Eagles will start the pre-season without a first-choice striker.
The Black-Whites have yet to make a signing this summer after Abdullah Avci replaced Senol Gunes as manager last month.
Avci took charge of Besiktas after resigning from his position as Basaksehir manager. Gunes meanwhile, is now head coach of the Turkey national team.
