Besiktas suffer transfer blow as Liverpool star reveals future plans

Besiktas have suffered a blow in the race to sign Liverpool star striker Daniel Sturridge.

The Black Eagles have been closely linked with a move for the experienced striker this summer as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Besiktas are still looking to replace Cenk Tosun who joined Everton back in January.

However, Sturridge has stated that he is determined to remain at Liverpool and break back into Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven.

The 28-year-old has featured in all three of Liverpool’s pre-season games so far.

“I see myself staying at Liverpool, hopefully being part of the team week in, week out,” Sturridge was quoted as saying by the Mirror.

“Pre-season is going well, so for me it’s keeping my head down and building on that. I’m excited about the season ahead and it feels great to be back.

“Pre-season has started well for me and the team. I am feeling great and can’t wait to get the season under way.”

Sturridge struggled last season and scored just three goals for Liverpool in the first half of the season before being loaned out to West Brom in January.

The England international’s future is still cast in doubt as he has just 12 months remaining on his contract with the Reds.
