Mesut Ozil put an end to months of speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United by committing his future to Arsenal.
The 29-year-old signed a three-and-a-half year contract extension with the north London based club earlier this week.
However, the decision has not gone down well with Manchester United fans on social media. Red Devil fans accused the Germany international of a lack of ambition.
Sanchez shows ambition to go to a bigger club, ozil stays for money and the Europa league. https://t.co/neMGEcd16n

Mesut Ozil has confirmed he has no ambition in his career and has signed a new deal to remain going missing in games

Ozil's a big game bottler, Who's wasting his career away at Arsenal, I didn't want him at United anyway

Ozil you bottler

Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Arsenal are the perfect fit. No ambition from any of them ?

Ozil waited last minute to hold Arsenal up for ransom and fans think it was out of love, Genius. Lacks ambition, would rather work comfortably for league cups. Sanchez wants to earn his Premier league trophy next season, the difference.

Massive L for United fans including myself now that Ozil has renewed his contract. I question his ambition staying at a club with no general direction.

Ozil chose the comfort of London, no pressure from the club and a ton of money over trophies, hard work and a ton of money. Lmao weak mentality

Poor mentality from Ozil, will finish his prime years as a player with no Premier or Champions League medal. One La Liga doesn't do his ability justice.

Of course United fans wanted Ozil on a FREE. But there’s better players available regardless. Watching Ozil bottle it against Swansea solidified the fact that he isn’t made for Untied anyway. #MUFC #AFC

Ozil previously played under Man United boss Jose Mourinho during his spell at Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, United did sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January in a deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go in the opposite direction.
Ozil is expected to be back in action for the north London based club this weekend when Arsenal take on Everton in the Premier League.
Manchester United take on Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon as they look to return to winning ways.
