Bilic – ‘Cenk’s goal against Tottenham shows our depth’ [divider]
Beşiktaş manager Slaven Bilic praised Cenk Tosun for his goal following the 1-0 win against Tottenham in the Europa League.
“We wanted to keep a small squad at the start of the season,” Bilic said.
“This way we could give every player a chance, every player in the team is capable of playing for the first-team as long as they work hard and prove themselves in training.
“Those who deserve to play get to play in this team, Cenk is the perfect example of the system we have here.
“I took him to Greece to play Asteras but had a long chat with him before the game regarding what I wanted from him and why he would not be playing in that game.
“It was a tough decision but Cenk responded in the best possible way, he put in so much effort in training and when I gave him his shot against Sarıyer he did not disappoint. Cenk scored twice and was man of the match.
“He also scored in the following game against Trabzosspor and now against Tottenham.”
The 23-year-old striker has scored four goals in his last five games for Beşiktaş.
The Turkish international striker joined Beşiktaş from Gaziantepspor this summer on a five year deal.
