Bournemouth Boss Backs Enes Unal to Deliver with More Chances

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is confident loanee Enes Unal can become a consistent scorer if provided with more opportunities.

Unal, who arrived on deadline day from Getafe, finally opened his account for the Cherries with a dramatic late equalizer against Sheffield United.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw which moved Bournemouth into 13th place.

While primarily used as a substitute so far, Iraola believes the Turkish striker can be “productive” if his teammates create more scoring chances for him.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Iraola praised Unal’s performance: “I think he’s doing very well.

“I think he’s in a process where he’s fighting for the minutes.

“He’s adapting to a new league, he’s coming also from a very long injury.

“But he’s a player that if we give him the chances to finish, he has always been productive and I’m sure he will be also with us.”

Unal will be hoping he has won over the manager to get his first start for Bournemouth next week when they face Luton Town at home on Wednesday before a two week break when they play Everton at home again on 30 March.

So far the 26-year-old striker has played in the last five games but as a substitute playing a total of 52 minutes in the league.

Unal will be hoping to get more playing time as the season progresses in order to win the approval of Turkish national team manager Vincenzo Montella ahead of Euro 2024 this summer. Unal has 32 caps for the national team and has three goals.
