The Bundesliga duo Hamburg and Werder Bremen have joined in the hunt for Napoli’s defensive midfielder Gokhan Inler according to gianlucadimarzio.com.
The Switzerland international is under heavy demand across Europe with West Ham United, Leicester city, Fiorentina and Schalke 04 all reported to be interested in signing Inler this summer.
The 31-year-old was rumoured to have put pen-to-paper on a deal with Schalke however, the clubs general manager Horst Heldt dismissed the reports stating that a deal was yet to be agreed.
Di Marzio goes onto say that Leicester City are currently front runners in the race with Inler’s agent currently in England holding talks with the Premier League side. The Foxes are understood to have tabled an offer of €6 million for the 31-year-old.
Leicester pulled off the ‘great-escape’ last season to beat the drop. The Foxes ended the season in 14th place with 41 points.
Inler scored one goal in 33 appearances for Napoli in all competitions last season. The Switzerland international has also previously played for Udinese, Zurich and FC Basel.
