Turkish international midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has reportedly expressed a strong desire to leave Inter Milan this summer and join Turkish Süper Lig giants Galatasaray.
According to claims by Turkish outlet Sabah, the 31-year-old has directly informed Inter directors of his wish to return to his homeland.
Calhanoglu, who joined Inter on a free transfer four years ago, is quoted as telling the club’s hierarchy, “I joined the club for free four years ago and I’ve given my best. I want to continue my career at Galatasaray, and I ask for your understanding. Let me go home.”

This development comes amidst earlier reports from Football Italia suggesting that Inter would be unwilling to part with the experienced midfielder for a low fee. Calhanoglu remains under contract at San Siro until June 2027.
Inter have already been active in strengthening their midfield this transfer window, securing the services of Petar Sucic.
Furthermore, the club recently made an offer for Lazio midfielder Nicolò Rovella, though the Roman club is reportedly unwilling to sell the Italian international unless his €50 million release clause is met. These moves could be seen as preparations for a potential departure in the midfield.
Adding a peculiar twist to the unfolding transfer saga, Calhanoglu’s barber inadvertently fueled speculation on Sunday. A picture shared by the barber with the midfielder was captioned, “Is it about to happen?” hinting at an imminent move.
Calhanoglu is currently sidelined due to injury and has not participated in Inter’s Club World Cup campaign. His absence from the pitch only intensifies the focus on his potential departure from the Italian champions.
