Birmingham won their last away league match, 2-1 against Wolves but have not won back-to-back games on the road since October 2015.

The home side could be without Aron Gunnarsson who has been recovering from a virus, while Bruno Manga and Rickie Lambert could recover in the time for the game.

Cardiff will be without Lee Peltier, Rhys Healey and Matthew Connolly who remain out.

The Blues meanwhile could be without striker Clayton Donaldson who is nearing a recovery and managed 45 minutes midweek for the Under-23s.

Turkish international winger Kerim Frei is also available for Birmingham City. The January arrival has struggled to break into the starting line-up under Zola and has just two Championship starts.

Frei did however, play 45 minutes in the 1-0 defeat against Wigan Athletic on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old played a role in Besiktas winning the league title last season and booking a place in the Champions League.

Frei left the Black Eagles where he was starting to gain more playing time in pursuit of regular first-team football.

The game will be officiated by Peter Bankes who averages a red card every three games.
