Celtic are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping position in the summer transfer window, and Trabzonspor’s Uğurcan Çakır has emerged as a possible target according to the Scotsman.

This search has intensified following the announcement of veteran goalkeeper Joe Hart’s retirement. Celtic reportedly have four goalkeepers on their shortlist.

The Aksam newspaper meanwhile, report that Dutch goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen, whose contract with RKC Waalwijk expires in the summer, is one option, but many Celtic fans are not enthusiastic about this potential signing, considering Vaessen’s struggles with his current club facing relegation.

Other names linked to Celtic include Liverpool’s loanee Caoimhin Kelleher and Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin, but these transfers are considered highly improbable.

Turkish international Uğurcan Çakır is another high-profile goalkeeper on Celtic’s radar. The 27-year-old has impressed with Trabzonspor and is valued at around €8.5 million.

However, his contract with the Turkish club runs until June 2027, potentially making negotiations for a transfer more challenging.

Reports suggest Celtic might be willing to offer £7.5 million for Çakır in the summer transfer window.

Whether Çakır becomes Celtic’s new number one goalkeeper remains to be seen. The coming weeks will likely reveal which candidate Celtic prioritizes to strengthen their goalkeeping position.

The Turkish international keeper has yet to play abroad but does have experience playing European competition football and international football.
